This new, easy to use SL-8207230 9 LED prewired lighting set is prewired for easy installation. Just screw in the two each 2LED fixtures and peel and stick the LED controller, buffer, three each 1LED fixtures, snap in the two each 1LED coach lights and connect to any battery over 4 volts or track power and enjoy the Tiffany Lamps!
The prototypical lighting SET includes a Shourt Line LED controller for safe and efficient operation. The set uses parallel wiring for LEDs and allows additional LEDs, up to 300, to be wired in parallel to an SL LED controller. The SL LED controllers are available with solder and screw type terminals for mounting on car wall, ceiling or under G Scale short or long cars.
The optional SL LED controllers are up to 94% efficient so that even the LGB starter set power pack will power a loco, its lights and 12 LED lamps plus additional car lighting for future expansion. The newest SL LED controller is unique in operating at 1/6th the power of any other available and it also works at the lowest track voltage or no track voltage, it fact it operates 8 LEDs up to 5 minutes without any track power!

This new, easy to use SL-8207230 9 LED prewired lighting set is prewired for easy installation. The optional LED controller and 10K anti-flicker buffer shown allows you to use only 1 axle of pickup power, either a single ball bearing power pickup or a Shourt Line single axle power pickup designed for LGB spoke or solid metal wheels. A version is also available for PIKO metal wheels. Power may also come from the rear power jacks found on G Scale locos or a battery of 4 to 24 volts..
The prototypical lighting set requires the use of the optional Shourt Line LED controller for safe and efficient operation. The set uses parallel wiring for LEDs and allows additional LEDs, up to 300, to be wired in parallel to the SL LED controller. The optional SL LED controller shown has solder input terminals but our screw type terminal controller may be be used for solderless installation.

- Default color temperature is Warm White which is matched for 3,200 degrees Kelvin that matches LGB two pin bulbs in color temperature. Use the Incandescent setting on your camera from proper color temperature in your photos.
- At the time of order you can request the Yellow Warm White or the Warm Warm White but we recommend using the Warm White standard unless you want to simulate a yellow outdoor bug light (YWW) or candle flame (WWW) see the photos below to compare.
You will receive the recommended Warm White LED lamp fixture shown on the right side of the photo above unless you request the WWW or the YWW color temperature LEDS with your order. (The 3ea SL-8291230 LED Tiffany Opal Lamp Fixtures above are not included with the set.)
This photo shown the right angle SL 1 LED Tiffany style Opal Lamp fixture with simulated wood mounting bracket. Note the difference in color temperature in the pools of light from each fixture. The Warm White is recommended but the other color temperatures are available upon request as the time of ordering. (The 3ea SL-8291230 LED Tiffany Opal Right Angle Wall Mount Lamp Fixtures above are not included with the set.)
Instructions: The photos shown below are for examples of use, wiring and placement of the set that includes; 2 pre-wired dual Opal LED fixtures, 3 single Opal LED fixture and 2 snap in LEDs pre-wired for LGB exterior coach fixtures.
This set does not include an SL LED controller for safe and efficient operation. We install lighting products an all makes of G scale cars if you do not want to do the install yourself. The 9 LED set takes only minutes and a screw driver to install. SL LED controllers are available in both solder and screw terminal types. We can set up the controller of your choice when requested so you do not have to adjust the voltage per the instructions that comes with each controller. A volt/amp meter is required to set the safe operating voltage on our SL LED controllers. Other makes and models of controllers may not work with direct parallel wiring of LEDs. If you want to use another controller be sure to use dropping resistors on each LED as they usually will not provide proper operation without them. All our controller work by parallel wiring LEDs without the use of dropping resistors.
- Adjust your SL Lighting controller using the instructions provided with your controller (not included with this set)
- Do not use a voltage above 3.1 volts
- Test the fixture by connecting the black lead with ridges to the (-) negative output and the smooth black lead to the (+) positive output of a SL LED controller AFTER it has been set to the proper voltage.
- Check to see that all lamps turn on, if not reverse the leads and retest, the black conductor (wire) that has ridges on the cover is the negative lead, the smooth wire is the positive lead.
- If the lamps fail to light contract us at the ShourtLine.com
- Wire the positive lead to the positive output of the SL LED controller. Do the same for the negative (ridged wire) by wiring to the negative output.
- Screw the two dual lamp fixtures with the included 4 stainless steel screws.
- Clean the surface where you want to mount the single light fixture in the center of the copula ceiling (see photo above) with an alcohol wipe
- Peel off the read tape to reveal the 3M adhesive pad (see photo below)
- Hold the fixture above the mounting surface to check the correct position before it touches the mounting surface.
- Apply gentle pressure by pushing on the LED.
- Route the wires as shown above to your choice of SL LED controller.
- Wire the SL LED controller to a source of power, such as 1 each PIKO ball bearing power pickup axle, an SL power pickup up kit, a battery (9 volt battery works well) or to a loco or car that has power.
- Optionally use an anti-flicker buffer as shown above.
Use only with an SL LED controller; damage to your led fixture is not covered with other controllers or if instructions are not followed.
1 SL-8291230 LED Tiffany Opal Lamp Fixture for the copula roof comes with pre-wired micro cable leads that are connected to the one of the 2 LED Tiffany Opal Lamp fixture. The Tiffany Opal Lamp Shades with LED provide wide angle illumination as shown above.
To install, clean the surface using an alcohol wipe where you want to mount the fixture, peel off the red tape on the SL-8291230 LED Tiffany Opal Lamp Fixture to reveal the gray high temp outdoor 3M adhesive pad and apply the fixture to the center of the copula ceiling as shown in photos.
The sets exterior porch LEDs provide prototypical front and end of car lighting. (LGB Car, and Track are not included with the set.)
The prewired SL-8209230 9 LED set show above is controlled and wired to an SL-8453003 LED controller & an anti-flicker buffer. An optional SL-7453003 3 side snap-on cover is available at our store and not included with the set. (The LED controller case, LGB Car, and Track are not included with the set.)
The SL LED controller above is not included with this 9 LED set.
The optional Shourt Line SL-8453003 Precision Train Throttle & LED controller (shown above) can power and dim over 300 LEDs at up to 94% efficiency from AC,DC or DCC at 4 to 35 volts. It uses 1/6 the power of all other lighting systems available.
Additional LEDs my be added by wiring in parallel, + to + and - to -. No dropping resistors or complicated formulas are needed. Up to 300 LEDs can be powered from each SL LED controller.
This photo shows 1/2 a PIKO P36167 a single ball bearing axle power pickup connected to a Shourt Line SL-4128510 pre-wired connector set for powering the included SL-8453003 LED controller that mounts inside the car interior wall. On the right side of the photo is 1/2 a PIKO P36164 a single metal wheel set. Using a single ball bearing power pickup axle requires the use of the pre-wired anti-flicker capacitor as shown above or a SL under car controller as shown below.
The SL-6525911 lighting system provides; LED control/dimmer functions, a UPS circuit with a DC to DC changer and super capacitor bank for powering 8 LEDs up to 53 minutes without track power, an Aux Out circuit as shown above can be wired to the exterior lamps so they automatically, slowly turn on when the train stops and go off when the train starts. The Automatic circuit has a special feature that smoothly brings the lamps to full brightness regardless of how fast the train stops.
Several models of SL under car mounted LED controllers with anti-flicker capacitor or buffers are available for concealed lighting control on short or long passenger cars. The LGB caboose shown below has a hidden central area for mounting the SL LED controller. Most passenger cars do not have places for hiding anti-flicker capacitor, buffer or LED controllers so the under car SL LED controller is a great option for car or whole train lighting control. SL LED controller for DCC versions are also available with 6 channels of lighting control.
