The Prototype:
The American locomotive works of H. K. Porter exported small locomotives to many countries. Porter locomotives ran on the sugar tramways of Hawaii and the Philippines, as well as on American logging railroads. They were used in mines in Arizona and Mexico and during the construction of the Panama canal. You could even find them in passenger service on Zanzibar, a tropical island off the African coast.
The Model:
The American locomotive manufacturer H. K. Porter specialized in small steam locomotives. The LGB model is a detailed replica of a typical four-wheel Porter steam locomotive, ready for hard work on your LGB layout: Couple it to a string of the NEW Shourt Line SL Mini-Max field cars for MOV operations, or to the NEW SL Mini-Max gondolas (shown below). Add several of these SL Mini-Max field cars to make a complete train for freight, goods, excursion, passenger, circus, fire, mining, MOW, emergency, maintenance, yard, field or crews.
