Features:
The loco is NEW in the LGB box and packing. A wealth of details distinguishes this replica of a B'B' DB type diesel locomotive. Two motors and four powered axles make this an exceptionally powerful model. Current is collected from six wheels and four pick-up shoes. Electrical features include directional lanterns, two-lighting sockets and a three-way control switch (all power off, power to the lights, power to the lights and motors)
Prototype:
Class DB 251
Wheel arrangement 8'8'.
At the beginning of the sixties, the German
Federal Railways received 5 robust, modem,
diesel-hydraulic bogie locomotives of the Type,
B'B' for their narrow gauge tracks in Baden-Wurttemberg.
All locomotives show an outward similarity to the
popular DB normal gauge class V 100 which can
be found all over Germany.
Spheres of operation:
Our two original locomotives with new
computerized number (ExV51) were operated on
the "Ochslebahn" in Upper Swabia before being
taken out of service. The 19 km long stretch of
track from Warthausen to Ochsenhausen was of
great importance for the development of the
areas around Bibrach.
Since 1985, as museum railway - also with the
Loco 251.
Technical Details:
MaK (Maschinenbau Kiel GmbH) manufactured
under licence by Locomotiven-Fabrik
Gmeinder-Mosbach.
Operational from 1964, gauge 750mm, weight of
the locomotive 39 tons, 2 motors of 270 Hp each,
Vmax = 40 km/h, length including buffers 9,81 m.
Model:
Ready to run. Rare and very very hard to find in new condition.
8'8' Bogle Diesel Locomotive Class DB 251.
2 motor driven bogies
for extreme locomotive pulling power. Drive through
all wheels, one of which is lined with a friction tyre.
10 current collecting points from the tracks to the
two motors. Triple headlight signals at both ends
with automatic change-over depending upon the
direction of travel. Two lighting sockets are located at each end of the loco for
connecting lighting or accessories of cars on either or both ends of the loco.
Operating switch for 2051:
The three positions are:
- M + L = Motor and lighting switched On. Drive
with lighting. The locomotive is delivered from the
factory in this manner.
