This new, rare LGB 20301 Ultimate Passenger Starter Set includes a 12 LED Shourt Line Prototypical Tiffany Opal White Lamp system with UPS power and automatic exterior lighting that comes on when the train stops for passengers and goes off when the train starts. In addition the Loco has been upgraded with a 2 LED drop ceiling fixture with concealed circuitry and wiring The train and lighting operates with the included LGB train controller or any other type of train controller; analog (DC), PWM DC, AC or DCC.
The lighting system is up to 94% efficient so that even the LGB starter set power pack included in this set will power the loco with its 2 LED lights and the 12 LED lamps plus additional car lighting for future expansion of your railroad. The lighting system is also unique in not only operating at 1/6th the power of any other available type but it also works at the lowest track voltage or no track voltage, it fact it operates up to 3 minutes without any track power! With the installed Shourt Line lighting system you can power the all of the cars 12 LEDs plus more than 5 additional cars with 8 LEDs each.
The fist passenger car has an under car mounted SL-6525911 Case with LED controller/dimmer, UPS and automatic circuit for the exterior lights. The SL-6525911 is pre-wired LGB power connectors at the front for connecting to the loco's rear power jacks. Each car is pre-wired with 3 pin SL LED power connectors for car to car power and lighting control. Additional cars with LED lighting can be added at any time via the pug and play SL 3 pin power connectors. The lighting system uses DC to DC converters that operate with up to 94% efficiency at low train speeds or at full track voltage (24 volts).
The SL LED controller includes a dimmer to adjust your choice of lighting level and works at full brightness at slow loco speeds (low track voltage). A UPS (Uninterrupted Power Source) is included and utilizes another DC to DC converter for charging a Super Capacitor Bank at up to 94% efficiency. The UPS provides lighting operation with up to 3 minutes without any track power! No more dark passenger cars when you stop at the station.

The cab has an SL 8102210 2 LED drop ceiling warm white lighting fixture that illuminates the cab, controls, fixtures, and engineer.
The SL 8102210 2 LED drop ceiling lighting fixture is pre-wired and voltage regulated. Works from any power source; analog, DCC or battery from 3 to 30 volts. Professionally Installed on the inside roof of a the loco as shown. Perfect for illuminating any small space requiring warm white illumination.
The 2 LED drop ceiling loco light fixture features concealed wiring.
Each of the two passenger cars has a 4 LED Tiffany style opal lamp fixture that stays on even without track power. 2 each LED Tiffany style opal exterior lamp fixtures are installed for exterior platform illumination and automatically come on when the train stops and go off when the train stops.
On the bottom of the red passenger car is an SL-6525911 LED controller system as shown above. The lighting fixtures are easily dimmed by putting the red car on its side and using a small screw driver to turn the SL-6525911's LED dimmer control (see red circle in photos) counter-clockwise as shown above. See the instructions included in the set for before turning the control clockwise to make the LEDs brighter.
The lighting fixtures LED's control and dimming is provided by the miniature SL 8453003 Precision Train Throttle & LED controller mounted inside the SL-6525911 case. The controller can power and dim over 300 LEDs at up to 94% efficiency from AC,DC or DCC at 4 to 35 volts.
The SL-6525911 lighting system provides; LED control/dimmer functions, a UPS circuit with a DC to DC changer and super capacitor bank for powering all 12 LEDs up to 3 minutes without track power, an Aux Out circuit as shown above that is wired to the exterior lamps so they automatically, slowly turn on when the train stops and go off when the train starts. The Automatic circuit has a special feature that smoothly brings the lamps to full brightness regardless of how fast the train stops.
Don't forget to place the figures included with the set inside the passenger cars by lifting the roof as shown in the photo above. 5 figures have been mounted in the two cars, 4 additional figures are included with the set and can be placed as desired.
The cars connect electrically by plugging in the SL 3 pin LED connector as shown above. The connectors have a fast release feature in case of derailment so wires can not be damaged.
SL 3 pin power connectors provide power and control for the interior and exterior auto on lighting. This photo shows the 3 pin connector at the front of the blue 2nd car. Additional cars with lighting can be added by using the supplied 3 pin connector at the rear of each car as shown below.
The bottom view above shows the professionally installed lighting system featuring the SL 3 pin the rear (right) connector and the male (left) connector. Note the mounting holes at the center of the all LGB short cars that provide an excellent place to mount the SL-6525911 lighting system as shown in the photo of the red car bottom view (see above).
Each car has an SL female 3 Pin LED power connector at the rear of the car for powering and controlling the lighting in following cars. Additional cars with lighting can be added to the set at any time using the plug and play connectors shown above.
Note that all wiring is low on the car for a prototypical appearance. This view of the red 1st car shows the LGB power plugs at the front of the car that plug into the loco for powering the lighting as show in photo below.
Power for the lighting comes from the 2 supplied LGB power connectors that plug into the back of the loco as shown above.
